Membership Benefits

Becoming a member of any Egbe (Society) gives one the benefit of connecting with others of the same head Orişa. Becoming a member of ObaTele also helps one to develop and grow solidly into their crown. We have two membership categories, Supporting member and Voting member

As a Supporting Member of ObaTele you will receive the following benefits:  

• 10% discount on all classes, lectures, and workshops sponsored by ObaTele 
• A personal email account @obatele.org 
• Access to Exclusive Members-Only events 
• Quarterly ObaTele e-Newsletter
  
  

As a Voting Member of ObaTele, in addition to the Supporting Member benefits, you will also receive the following:  

• Access to the Members Only area of ObaTele’s website 
• One free pass to an ObaTele sponsored class, lecture, or workshop of your choice 
• Access to exclusive Members Only events 
• Private exchange with noted scholars, artists, crafters and experts in and traditional Yoruba culture and Orişa traditions throughout Africa and the African Diaspora who partner with our organization 
• Access to our multi-media library and archive 
• Members sash to be worn at all public/private events when representing ObaTele
• Voting members are eligible to receive the ileke of the Orişa that govern ObaTele after taking the oath of commitment 
  

Expectation of Our Members

ObaTele expects the following of all members:

• Demonstrate an understanding of, and agreement with ObaTele’s bylaws and all rules and regulations that govern and protect its members.
  
  
• Demonstrate an understanding of, and agreement with ObaTele’s mission, purpose and programs.
  
  
• Support ObaTele through financial and personal participation.

• Remain in good standing with ObaTele’s annual membership dues.

A one-time application fee of $21 must accompany your application. Yearly membership dues is $144 for applicants that are accepted for membership.
